Alongside Despereaux on his adventure is composer William Ross, who armed Despereaux with a substantial symphonic score rich in melody and filled with heartfelt themes and exciting action. The music is colorful, capturing the period detail of the movie, yet featuring serious dynamic and intense music. Following nearly an hour of William Ross' symphonic splendor are two songs by Dave Stewart, Glen Ballard, and Gary Ross.
