Long recognized for his work in film and television, Hans Zimmer composed the music on this album for the ten-hour PBS series, Millennium: Tribal Wisdom and the Modern World. The series was developed not only to depict the drama of survival of indigenous cultures, but to explore new possibilities for our "progress-oriented" societies by trying to understand the wisdom of tribal peoples around the world. The music ranges from world beat to classical/orchestral, and many of the rich and varied themes are accented by chants recorded for the series.
